2019 Morris Mack Open

  • Yakima Valley College (map)

We are excited to invite you to the 2019 Morris Mack Open! This tournament is one of the longest running in the Pacific Northwest, and will feature exciting competition from around the region. Competitors from all styles of martial arts are welcome to participate! With a focus on friendship and camaraderie, the Morris Mack Open has brought martial artists together for more than four decades. Forms, sparring, weapons, team, and entertainment events provide opportunities for all ages and abilities to compete!

On Friday, March 8th, we will be hosting Kobudo World Champion Abby Knapp for two amazing kata seminars. These seminars will deal with the traditional Okinawan weapon, the eaku (oar). The first seminar (5:00-6:30pm) will be focused on Ten-No-Kata, an introductory form perfect for practicing the fundamental movements of this weapon. Afterwards, Abby will share with us the more advanced form Futen-No-Kata (7-8:30pm), which displays dynamic and exciting movements. Please contact the Yakima School of Karate (509-457-5462) if you are interested in ordering an oar prior to the event. $30 for one seminar, $50 for both. We will sea you there!
